David M. Greenberg, Ph.D., is an award-winning psychologist, neuroscientist, and musician. He is known for his scientific work on musical preferences and personality, social neuroscience of music, music therapy, and autism. He has received honors from the National Institutes of Health and the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music. Greenberg is the Founder and CEO of CHIME (www.heychime.com), which provides next-generation online music therapy to kids, teens, and adults across the United States and Canada. His work is regularly featured in media, including The Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, The Atlantic, NPR, Discover Magazine, Business Insider, and Rolling Stone.

Greenberg received his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Cambridge and has post-doctoral training in social neuroscience, clinical psychology, and music therapy. He has worked as a senior scientific advisor for numerous companies, including Spotify and National Geographic. At Spotify, Greenberg led a team of data scientists in developing algorithms to predict personality traits from Spotify usage. These algorithms turned into a feature delivered to 130,000 million Spotify users via Spotify Wrapped in 2022.

He is an Honorary Research Associate at the Autism Research Centre of the University of Cambridge. He is a co-PI on a randomized controlled trial on the effectiveness of music therapy for autistic children. Greenberg now serves on the editorial boards of Musicae Scientiae and the Journal of Music Therapy.

In a TEDx talk given in 2021, Greenberg described how music saved his life when he was 2 weeks old, which has served as an inspiration and motivation for his life's work. Greenberg is also a professional musician and songwriter. He began playing the saxophone at the age of 10 and went on his first European tour at age 16. Greenberg continues to perform today.
