Chris Tompkins is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT#134537), life coach, TEDx speaker, and author of the best-selling book, Raising LGBTQ Allies: A Parent's Guide to Changing the Messages from the Playground. Chris has a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University with a specialization in LGBTQ Affirmative Psychology.

Prior to becoming a therapist, Chris taught social-emotional learning (SEL) throughout Southern California for six years at high schools, after-school programs, the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Homeless Youth Shelter, and Los Angeles Central Juvenile Hall.

In addition to being a therapist, Chris is a writer and public speaker. He gives workshops and presentations for colleges, conferences, and organizations across the U.S. on topics such as mental health and LGBTQ populations, spirituality and religious trauma, “inner advocacy,” and raising LGBTQ allies.
