Hamid Zand Ph.D.

About

Hamid Zand, Ph.D., is a biochemist, university professor, and researcher in cancer, obesity, aging, and nutrition. Over the years, he has authored more than 50 papers that have been published in international journals and has contributed chapters in two books: Nutrigenomics and Nutraceuticals: Clinical Relevance and Disease Prevention (CRC Press, 2018) and Applications of Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals for Chronic Diseases, Volume 2 (CRC Press, 2023). With a background in nutrition science, these chapters are mainly focused on the effect of nutrition and nutraceutical agents on non-combinable diseases from a molecular biology point of view.

Besides his interest in finding answers to complex questions of human health and disease, he passionately spends long hours thinking, reading, and writing about the philosophy of mind and how the body and external signals affect the brain, a perspective formed by combining biochemistry, biology, and philosophy. This has resulted in published pieces focusing on the biological requirements behind brain function and mind formation.
