Isabel Thielmann, Ph.D., is a personality psychologist and head of the independent research group, Personality, Identity, and Crime, at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law in Freiburg, Germany. She received her Ph.D. in psychology in 2015 from the University of Mannheim, Germany, and was a postdoc at the University of Koblenz-Landau, Germany, and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Most of her work is located at the intersection of personality and social psychology and aims to improve our understanding of individual differences in prosocial and (un)ethical behavior, including helping, cooperation, and kindness vs. dishonesty and crime. Moreover, she is interested in personality assessment, self- and other-perception, self-knowledge, and personality change. Isabel is an Associate Editor of the European Journal of Personality.
