Kim Meidenbauer Ph.D.

Kim Meidenbauer, Ph.D., is an assistant professor at Washington State University in the Department of Psychology and the Health Equity Research Center. She runs the Social, Cognitive, and Environmental Neuroscience (SCENe) Lab at WSU. Kim researches how elements of our physical environments, such as heat stress, nature exposure, and air quality can influence our emotions, our cognitive functioning, and our social behaviors. At the core of her research is the idea that with a better understanding of how our environments affect us, we can more effectively alter features of the physical environment to promote individuals' well-being and create more equitable spaces for communities experiencing the brunt of environmental stressors. Prior to her current appointment, Kim was a postdoctoral scholar and teaching fellow at the University of Chicago. Kim earned her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2020 in Dr. Marc Berman's Environmental Neuroscience Lab, and her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2012.
